May's Anything Goes Slam recap

What an Anything Goes Slam. On May 28 Toronto Poetry Slam hosted its annual break-the-rules slams, where poets are encouraged to wear costumes, use props, do covers, go as wild as their imagination will take them.

And the poets stretched their boundaries, to varying degrees. Dave Silverbeg - the usual host of TPS - decided to outfit his ode to Natalie Portman with 28 photos displayed on the Drake projection screen, timed perfectly. We were treated to sick beats for Eytan Crouton's raps, and The Draft busted out his djembe drum for nice background to a story poem.

Give a hand to your new Toronto Poetry Slam Team!

We are pleased to announce the Toronto Poetry Slam for 2011 (although 100% confirmation still hasta take place)

It was a wildly awesome night at Hugh's on Friday, with all the poets bringing their A-game and some topnotch poetry. But when it was all said and one, the top poets were Eytan (who rocked his iPhone pieces), Boski (he always double-fisted beers when he took the stage), Lip Balm (no one will forget his revolving doors analogy) and David Delisca (his new piece killed!).
